The second regatta of the CARA season was run at Bexhill under sunny skies on what was probably the best day of 2013 so far weather-wise. Shoreham rowers again performed extremely well especially the clubs Ladies crews – who outshone all others picking up the Ladies Aggregate. Shoreham’s Novice rowers also shone and were rewarded with the Novice Aggregate for their efforts.
Overall Shoreham picked up 4 wins (all for the Women again!) in the Ladies Senior Pair, Ladies Junior Fours, Ladies Novice Fours and J16 Girls Sculls. A host of second places were also hard won, in the Ladies Senior Fours, Veteran 50+ Fours, the Ladies Junior Pairs and Novice Sculls. In addition to the pot winning places Shoreham showed strength in the mid-field with a lot of third place finishes as well. The most impressive result of the day had to go to the J16 girls, who braved fast deteriorating conditions to go out for their second race of the day in the Ladies Novice Fours and win!
Credit must go to all Shoreham rowers who have proved that the winter’s efforts have not all been in vain. We have moved forward as a club and every single rower has showed the capability to win races in the coming weeks.
