This years race takes place on Saturday the 23rd of March 2024 over two divisions starting at 09:15am and 10:45am.
The Head of the Adur is hosted at Shoreham Rowing Club and is run over a 3.5km course from the “Toll Bridge” in Shoreham, through Shoreham Town centre and to the mouth of the River Adur.
The Adur head is open to all coastal and river rowers. Owing to the large tidal range at Shoreham and commercial port at the mouth of the river, and the number of moored boats on the course, small boats should only be experienced rowers capable of navigating the course.
The race is held over 2 divisions, either side of high water. To allow fair competition and continuation of course records, the divisions are splits as follows:
Division 1 – against the tide
Crew | Boat | |||
Mens Fours: | 4+ (All status’) | 4x (All status’ and juniors)
Womens Small Boats | 1x | 2x | 2- |
Division 2 – with the tide

Women’s Fours | 4+ (All status’) | 4x (All status’ and juniors)
