Shoreham are 2014 CARA Champions!

Shoreham RC had a lot to celebrate at the 2014 End of Season Dinner & Dance as our most successful season for 10 years came to a close. Not only have we won six, yes SIX, CARA championships this year we have also taken home the prestigious CARA Grand Aggregate trophy for the first time since 2004. Outstanding!

Winning the Grand Aggregate has been a real team effort – with the entire club pulling together to race, cox, coach and support each other. And we’ve not only proven ourselves the fastest club in Kent & Sussex, winning more races than any other to get the Grand, but we’ve also proven ourselves champions of the dance floor, led by the notorious PIG…G :).

In early October we headed over to Bexhill for the CARA End of Season presentation dinner to collect our championships from ex-GB Olympian and rowing legend Sarah Winckless (above: front row, middle). Turns out she knows how to have a good party too! In total we picked up:

This weekend welcomed the notorious annual SRC End of Season dinner at Sussex Yacht Club. And it was a fantastic night of celebrations, not only of our CARA wins but also the presentation of our own prizes this season. So for 2014 we salute the following winners:

For showing commitment, improvement and real rowing promise, Phoebe Mercer also wins a weekend of coaching at the prestigious Leander Club in Henley.

Well done all! Bring on 2015!!
